Facade Roller Shade, Screen Doors

Tracee and Daniel were eager to create a custom outdoor living space in their backyard. Their home backs up to open canals, which created a strong wind tunnel and attracted large numbers of mosquitoes. With no back fences and houses built closely together, there was little privacy, making it far from the outdoor living and design-driven oasis they envisioned. They had previously installed a wooden pergola over their hot tub, but over time, the wood began to deteriorate. The fabric shades they added were no match for the wind and eventually tore apart, further dashing their hopes for a durable custom outdoor living space.

To address these challenges, we installed a 13' x 8' wall-mounted aluminum pergola. It was securely anchored to their home and designed to withstand high winds. We partnered with EZ Fold Screens LLC to install screen doors on the sides, creating a bug-free environment that still allows for airflow. A motorized roller shade was added to the front, allowing them to control sunlight and privacy. The slightly opaque shade material makes it harder for others to see inside, helping them feel more comfortable in their space. Their new setup is built to last and provides them with a peaceful, functional outdoor area.

Client Pain Point

Working in the enclosed gazebo

  • Wind Tunnel Trouble

The open canal creates a “natural wind tunnel,” subjecting the courtyard to persistent strong winds.

  • Mosquito Invasion

Swarms of mosquitoes invade the courtyard, disrupting leisurely moments and posing health risks through disease-carrying bites.

  • Privacy Shortage

No backyard fence and dense housing leave outdoor spaces with zero privacy.

  • Pergola Deterioration

The wooden gazebo experienced wood rot in strong winds and humid conditions, while the fabric tore in gusts, leading to a decline in structural stability.

Solution Provided

  • Wind Resistance

The durable wall-mounted aluminum pergola replaces the fragile wooden structure, withstanding canal winds.

  • Mosquito Barrier

Fully enclosed screen doors create a physical barrier, effectively preventing mosquito breeding around the canal and eliminating the annoyance and health risks associated with insect bites during outdoor activities.

  • Enhanced Privacy

Motorized roller shades offfer adjustable privacy, blocking neighbors' view and completely resolving visibility concerns.

  • Sturdy and Stable

The aluminum structure features moisture-proof and mildew-resistant properties, while the enclosed design prevents the sunshade fabric from tearing.

Details to Impress Client

✅Weather-Resistant Aluminum Build

The aluminum pergola resists wind, rust, and canal moisture—outlasting the warped, decayed wooden structure. Unlike torn fabric shades, its sturdy frame stays intact through seasonal gusts for long-term reliability.

✅Customizable Enclosure Design

Fully-enclosed screen doors and motorized shades adjust in seconds - open for sunlight, close for privacy. Flexibility to switch between airy relaxation and cozy seclusion.

✅Low-Maintenance Upkeep

No more replacing torn fabric or repairing rotted wood. The aluminum structure wipes clean easily; screens and shades need minimal care—saving repair time to focus on enjoyment.

✅Seamless Integration with Existing Space

Wall-mounted design saves space, fitting neatly without overcrowding. It complements home architecture, turning a wind/bug-plagued neglected area into a polished living extension.

✅Year-Round Usability

Enclosed setup stays usable in wind, bugs, or with neighbors nearby. It turns their backyard into a 4-season retreat for coffee, dinners, gatherings—unlike the old pergola.
